Hello, dear reader! Welcome to your Weather Report, a (sometimes) weekly column where I recommend some articles, a book, a movie, and some music for readers to consume.

Here's what you're getting this week:

  1. A short thank you for reading this newsletter in 2025.
  2. Essays, articles, and columns about: Trump's attacks on Venezuela, cutting USAID and its consequences, dead malls, NSPM-7, and feds losing in court.
  3. A supernatural spy novel that is gripping all the way through that's like if James Bond was Indiana Jones and he went to war against the Soviets with the power of the djinn.
  4. A satirical crime thriller about the corrosive effects of power on society.
  5. Four hip-hop songs I listened to while repotting some plants.

If you're interested in seeing the recommendations – and supporting Heavy Weather's quest to keep tabs on collapse – you can become a paid subscriber by clicking the button below. Paid subscribers get access to the MEDIA LIST, a comprehensive list of every book, movie, and video game I've ever recommended. If you're already a paid subscriber, thank you very much! This newsletter would literally not be possible without your support.

A 2025 Recap:

Hello, dear reader. I know that these Weather Reports have not been as consistent as I originally promised, but I want to offer you a very deep thank you from the bottom of my heart for subscribing to my little newsletter. It means the world to me.

If you're a paid subscriber, you are the reason that I have been able to publish stories like revealing Puerto Rico's role in the Epstein files, reporting on several Act 22 investors facing legal trouble, and how the archipelago was used for the largest ever Army National Guard counterintelligence exercise. Quite frankly, these stories would never have seen the light of day without your help, and they would have never been reported anywhere else.

As 2025 ends and 2026 begins, I'm gearing up to publish even more writing on here and hopefully finally make the reading recommendations more consistent (the problem is that I need to read books faster lol).

And if you're a free subscriber, I also want to thank you for reading. If you want to help out this newsletter, please spread the word about it to anybody who will listen.

That's it for this week's free stuff. If you want to see the media recommendations and the link roundup, you can become a paid subscriber today.
